My Fitness Pal says: 1,940 calories for the day.
I just said this on Allan's blog, but here's the deal: I'm extending the challenge until Wednesday, June 5. I stopped putting up photos, and then stopped even describing it all (as of yesterday or something) but I have it all in My Fitness Pal. I can't weigh in today because of some dietary indiscretions connected to a celebration yesterday. But on Wednesday I'm coming back with my final weight figure and some pics to compare to my starting pics. I'll post total calorie count tonight, and I'll update yesterday's, too, in a little while.

Thursday's food, coming soon!
My Fitness Pal says: 2,051 calories.
If you really need to know, and excuses don't matter - but in case you are curious - we had a celebration for a child's medical checkup which went well. I didn't need to eat pizza, but I offered it to the child as a reward for good behavior, and I didn't feel like watching everyone else eat it while sitting here fuming. But I will not weigh in today. I had hoped to, since May 31 is the last day in May, and theoretically was supposed to be the last day of the challenge.
See Friday's entry. I am going to keep tracking until Wednesday, June 5th, and then weigh in.

Hair of the dog
My Fitness Pal says: 1,538 calories for the day.
I'm going to weigh in on Friday, so I'd better taper off what I eat. Thankfully, the human vacuum cleaners known as kids (big kids) have taken care of most of the calorie-dense foods around here. Hair of the dog refers to the cake which is about 360 calories per 100 g. (I'm learning a lot from this exercise - mainly that pizza is about 300 calories per typical 4.5-oz. portion, and cake is about 360 calories per 100 g. generous portion.)
Really it was cake, but I'll represent it with a pic of cupcakes because there's not much difference, and I already have cupcake pics on my compy.
OK, I have to keep up, even if I do not have photos. I'm in this till the 31st, and it's only a few more days. Take note that I documented everything with a photograph up until a couple of days ago. At this point I'm documenting everything (embarrassing as some of it is) with words, even if without a photo.
One serving of Cheetos (look, do you know what kind of progress it is for me to have ONE serving of anything?)
Two servings of green beans (that's right, I ate double on those)
One serving of barbecued chicken. This is skinless chicken breast cooked in a non-fat homemade, chopped-onion, vinegar, tomato etc. sauce.
Well, guess what - that's IT! That's it for today. When I have had to estimate calories, I estimate high, because I don't like to fool myself. I err on the side of MORE calories. But I try to be as accurate as possible. Oops, I forgot ONE Reese's PB cup, and not even the standard size, but the "snack size." 80 calories. I must have been very motivated today. See calories at the top of the post. Over and out.

Holiday weekend is a calorie bust
My Fitness Pal says: 2,307 calories for today
I'm not even going to rustle up photos, but I am going to try to approximate all of this in My Fitness Pal. Here is the list (because I remember everything I ate, which is a positive change from days when I used to eat without thinking)
Coffee and milk, like usual
One piece of 15-grain toast
Two ball park franks, two white wheat buns
1 cup potato salad
1/2 cup ice cream
1 large piece of cake; I'll count it as two
1 Yuengling ale
1 serving Fritos Scoops
Not a great diet by any means; it was a holiday. I wonder what would have happened, had I made 15 side dishes to go with everything, and ate a grand-slam breakfast to start the day, and also had both breakfast AND lunch. Well, I can answer that: The calories would be double.

Holiday weekends present challenges
My Fitness Pal says: 1,350 calories for the day.
My eye is on May 31st, yet we have a birthday AND a holiday weekend to contend with. I'm not weighing in until the 31st, though, so I'd better try to stay on my toes. So far today:
I don't know if anyone is posting pics anymore, or if I will get the pics up for this day (although I did take pics.) But here is a list: 21 mini-wheats 2 cups of strong green tea barbecued chicken green beans Ice cream, and I like to estimate high so I'm going ot say 2 cups Fritos, again, high estimate, 2 servings That was it; I was very busy. See top of post for calories.

6 days to go
My Fitness Pal says: 1,405 calories for the day
I'm in this until May 31st, through thick and thin, good and bad, fat and slim, sinful and pious, ridiculous and commendable... whatever. If it's May, I'm tracking it. For everyone to see and tsk-tsk. And judge, and marvel at. Anyway, it's back to coffee and whatever else I can find around the house.
The sandwich pic is obviously stolen; I did not photograph my sandwich, but let me describe it: 1 slice of 15-grain bread, 1.5 oz. ham, 1/2 slice cheddar cheese, 1/2 tablespoon mayonnaise.

New day, new start
My Fitness Pal says: 1,628 calories today.
Here we have some things that may atone for some recent sins, and by the way, I have failed to post a particular pic for the last three or four days. It's non-caloric, so I guess it does not matter, but I have been slugging large quantities of very strong plain green tea. When I say "strong," I mean that I brew it so that it looks like sewer slime from a century-old abandoned sewer system, and it tastes that way, too. But I understand it is very good for you! (so good that it makes me want to hurl, if taken on an empty stomach, and makes me simply want to puke a little, if taken with plenty of food.)
Now, let's talk about the soup/sandwich and about the cupcakes. Soup: 1/2 cup. Sandwich: 1 oz. cheese in it. Cupcakes - did you know that it's always someone's birthday around here? I made these HALF-sized, but I did eat three. The recipe-published calories (straight from the cookbook) for these cupcakes are 105 each, or 315 for three, and I don't know how much for the frosting, but would you call it fair if I say I had 500 calories' worth of cupcake? This is what I'm writing down on My Fitness Pal.
So... My Fitness Pal says: 1,628 calories today.

Stilll here, what about you?
My Fitness Pal says: 1,569 calories today.
We're in the home stretch to May 31st. I will weigh in on that day, and if I've lost 5 lbs., I'll consider it a victory. Take a 5-lb. bag of flour or sugar and feel how heavy it is. Losing this much flab is truly "zapping" flab and saying goodbye to it forever. That's my goal - to never see my starting weight again. I started at 155 and would like to not see the 150s again. 14_ (any digit) is good in my book; let's see if I can make it there. Last weigh-in showed 151.5 so it just may happen.
Coffee is the only thing on deck for now, although I'm dreaming up more grilled cheese and tomato soup (gotta finish up leftovers, you know?)
Very embarrassing day here. But I'm going to move on.
If you wonder if I only eat junk food, that is a very fair question. I have reflected on this and come to a conclusion: In at least one sense, this challenge has not been very good for me. The reason: I have been eating a lot of what I would like to eat, and then realizing that my calorie limit for the day is approaching, and I stop eating. Normally, I would eat more nutritious food in addition to a fair amount of goodies, but since I am trying hard to limit calories, I cut them immediately wherever I find myself. I cut myself off cold from further eating for the day, and that means watching other people eat dinner, while I do not, sometimes. Moving on, now, let's see what Friday brings. My Fitness Pal says: 1,569 calories today.

Another day, another list of food
My Fitness Pal says: 1,752 calories today
Let's see... I did eat something nutritious today - well, plenty of nutritious things - before indulging in something cold and highly caloric.

Tuesday's pics
1,488 calories today, according to my old pal "My Fitness."
Here are the pics to go with that, and pardon me for grabbing some stock photos. I did not take a pic of the grilled cheese and tomato soup, I admit. But pics of that are found by the trillions on the interwebs.

Another day, another bunch of things to eat
My Fitness Pal says 1,865 calories for the day.
How about some coffee and (to mix things up today), first some granola bars and THEN some mini-wheats later? Woo hoo, I am really living life on the edge today.
Look, I simply CANNOT arrange these pictures well with blogger, so just bear with me if you ever see them out of order. It's hard enough just to get them anywhere near where they should be.
Let me be blunt: The day went downhill. I have been facing many personal, financial, and other challenges, and I admit that I grabbed whatever I felt like eating, when I saw it. This oftentimes means that despite my best intentions to eat something healthful for lunch or dinner, I "spoil my dinner" as they used to say in the olden days, by eating some kind of evil treat and not being hungry or motivated enough to eat anything else later. I simply run out of day, and before I know it, it's midnight. In my defense, the PB&J was one thin heel of bread with one teaspoon (not tablespoon) each of PB and jelly; my stomach was empty and I wanted something small on it before hitting the hay.
1865 calories total

Caught up with documentation
My Fitness Pal says 1,510 calories for the day.
No more falling behind; nothing is more of a drag than having to find pics of the debauchery from the day before, then calculate all the calories in another program, then report on all of this in a blog post. All for calories consumed yesterday. That are long gone, with only a headache to remind you about them.
So here is today, up-to-the-minute:
730 calories so far today. Let's move on now that I'm back. Eating some more (and not in an exemplary fashion, but it is what it is):
Oops, couldn't stop eating. Ate one more thing:
